Meet the Characters

Samael

Samael is a Daemonmarked, an unfortunate individual born with demonic features. As a child, he accidentally sold himself to the dark god Asmodeus, who granted him incredible magical power in exchange for unwavering loyalty and servitude. Samael frequently acts a voice of reason within the group, and as such usually makes the final decision when one needs to be made.

Buddita Smith

At over six feet tall, muscles larger than most human men, and green skin and tusks, Buddita stands out a bit. She is more than capable of slaughtering anyone in her way thanks to her ferocious strength and massive battleaxe, but get to know the woman beneath and you’ll find someone shy and int the regular world. Buddita is searching for her missing sister, Meg, a journey which has forced her out of her previous sheltered existence in her human father’s woodland cottage. She joined the group hoping that having friends could help her navigate this strange new world. She likes all her new friends but is particularly fond of Milo, an attraction she will never admit.

Milo Shortstout

Don’t let his size fool you. Milo may be a Halfling, but he packs a punch that could knock out a full size Ogre. And has, according to Milo. In fact, his ego might be the largest thing about him. But it’s not without merit: Milo is a member of the prestigious Long Wing Monks, an ancient tradition going back thousands of years of Cader’Ema’s history. Why he is outside the monastery is known only to Milo, for now, but he seems content to lend his impressive martial arts prowess to the group, and collect coin from odd jobs. Milo in particular seems close to Buddita, and interested in helping her find her missing sister.

Shyonia Glanadel

Shyonia was never supposed to be born, a reality she’s reminded of daily. She is a forbidden Half-Elf, a child of an illicit affair between Elf and Human. Her existence meant her Elven mother was banished from the Old Wood, the ancient Kingdom of Elves, and the two of them were forced to live among exiles in human lands. These so-called “Migrant Elves” live meager existences trying to cultivate land that is unyielding and unfriendly to them. Viewed suspiciously by Humans and as abominable by Elves, Shyonia turned to the wilds for her personal solace. She became adept at hunting, tracking, and surviving, and when she became old enough she left her Migrant Elf village to become a mercenary and make her own way in the world. Shyonia never goes anywhere without the company of her animal companions: the bloodhawk Ramses and the rambunctious weasel, Pip.

Therok

An imposing Dracokin — one who is from a bloodline of dragons — Therok is sworn to serve the sea goddess, Majesta. As a child, Therok’s village was saved by Majesta, and he swore himself to her as a life debt. As an adult, his loyalty to her in unyielding, and he frequently tries to convert new followers to her cause. The others in the group aren’t so sure about Majesta, given what they’ve seen of other members of her church. But still, Therok’s aid is appreciated, and necessary, so they put up with the oddness in his deity relationship.

Aaryn Stormryder

Son of the noble and ancient house of Stormryder, Aaryn is sworn to serve the royal family, like his father and grandfather before him. He is captain of the Crownsguard of Rhys, in charge of maintaining order within the city and personal bodyguard to Prince Reagent Montague Johanan, of whom Aaryn is a close personal friend. Aaryn also has feelings for Montague’s sister, Princess Kaliendra Johanan, who has sworn duties of her own. Their oaths forbid any sort of relationship between the two of them, a reality which pains Aaryn deeply. Aaryn encounters The Help when he’s assigned to clear out a problematic bandit’s den within Rhys, a mission which aligns him with The Help’s goals.

Khalysta Creed

It’s not really known how old Khalysta is, or where she came from. But those in Majesta’s inner circle know, wherever you will find the sea goddess, her most loyal attendant is never far behind. Her privilaged position at Majesta’s right hand side means Khalysta understands the goddess in a way that few others do. Her ambition, cunning and patience mean she has outlived many of Majesta’s other followers. What Khalysta’s goals are are not clear, but she seems content to wait and watch . . . for now. Her fate collides with The Help when Majesta assigns her to keep a close eye on Therok and his new friends.
